What am I reading?
Realistic fiction that I have been reading this past week includes Fat Boy Rules the World (Going) and Angus, Thongs and Full-Frontal Snogging (Nicolson) - very different books. Fat Boy is definitely on the edgy side. Angus? Think Bridget Jones Diary for teens. Just started Postcards From No Man's Land (Chambers).

I am now reading Athletic Shorts: Six Short Stories by Chris Crutcher. There is a main character named Angus in that, too! Look forward to reading my blog about this..."interesting" book.
Since our class, I have read The Wednesday Wars, Hope was Here, Down the Rabbit Hole, Hole in my Life, Weetzie Bat, and Things Not Seen. I am starting A Long Way from Chicago. During the school year, I never get to read as much as I want, because there are always other things that need done. This class gives me the perfect excuse to read, read, read!
I read The White Darkness this weekend. I thought it was very good. The author hooked me in the beginning and kept me reading as I tried to figure out what was going on with Uncle Victor.
I also read Trouble Don't Last by Shelley Pearsall. This is a very good example of historical fiction. The author is coming to Monroe Elementary on May 1 to discuss her book and work with fifth graders on writing historical fiction.
